Teaching
My role as an instructor and a teaching assistant has been to ensure that students learn course material in ways that apply to a diverse range of student backgrounds, interests, and abilities. As the majority of coursework I've taught centers in biology, I find it paramount to engage students in learning and communicating about such subjects so that they can make informed decisions about the world around them. Another priority is to eliminate any misinformation or misconceptions surrounding scientists and the pursuit of inquiry. By revealing the scientific method and applying it to real-world problems, I focus on building trust in the scientific process and show its large application to everyday life.

Mentoring
I consider mentoring the most important part of my job. I cannot overstate the importance of mentorship to my own life, as I still regularly seek out the help and advice from my mentors. I work hard to provide resources, real-world experiences, and support to those that have hopes to excel in this field. As a woman in science, I appreciate how critical it is to see people that look like you that are doing the things you want to do in a career. I strive to lead by example to the best of my ability, and to also provide connections to other role models that are leaders in ecology.
